Prof. Dr. habil. Christopher McDermott, MSc. is a specialist in heat transport in the geological environment, Chris originally pioneered the idea of SEAWARM with a vision for the development of an indestructible, easily serviceable heat exchanger using state-of-the-art plastic technology.

Dr. Gus Fraser-Harris, PhD, MScR, MSci. is leading the prototype development and field testing programme. He has a background in geothermal energy and low carbon heating with over 10 years research experience both developing new experimental equipment and numerical analysis. Gus’s primary motivation is to facilitate the reduction in carbon emissions from heating and cooling.

Roger Kilburn

Roger Kilburn

Chair & Strategic Advisor

Roger runs his own consultancy specialising in business strategy, growth and leadership support. Prior to this Roger was a Senior Vice President at Quotient Sciences following its acquisition of Arcinova in February 2021. Previously, as the CEO of Arcinova, he was appointed in September 2019 to strengthen the executive management team and accelerate its growth. Prior to joining Arcinova, Roger was CEO of IBioIC where he established and developed a highly successful, industry led, biotechnology innovation centre hosted by the University of Strathclyde. Other key roles have included General Manager of a pharmaceutical service business based in the USA and Managing Director of one of the largest global controlled drug API manufacturers.

With over 25 years of experience as an international business leader, Roger has a proven track record in business turnaround, growth and leadership. Roger’s background is in the biotechnology, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors working for industry giants such as ICI and Johnson Matthey. Roger is graduate of the University of South Wales with a first class degree in Chemical Engineering. He has Chaired and sat on the boards of numerous Government, industrial, academic and learned institutions. Roger is also a Fellow of the IChemE.

Simon Lloyd brings extensive experience in senior finance roles across the private sector, as well as not-for-profit and social enterprise organisations. As Chief Financial Officer at SeaWarm, he applies financial insight to support medium- to long-term strategy, balance stakeholder interests, and ensure decisions deliver sustainable, long-term value.

His experience in financial services spans medium to long-term savings provision with Legal & General, AEGON and Skandia (now Old Mutual Wealth Management), which includes pensions and investments; distribution of financial services through work with Origen, Positive Solutions and Bankhall; and commercial lines insurance with AXA.

Isabel DiPirro

Operations & Sustainability Manager

Isabel brings her expertise in consulting, innovation, and sustainability strategy to her role as Strategic Operations and Sustainability Manager. She holds a master’s in Global Strategy & Sustainability from the University of Edinburgh and previously worked at Accenture, leading sustainability and innovation initiatives for large commercial and international clients. At SeaWarm, Isabel combines her experience with a deep passion for decarbonisation and sustainable energy access, helping scale low-carbon heating solutions that create long-term social and environmental impact.

David Garcia

David Garcia

Business Development Manager

David brings over 20 years of experience in heat pump sales and business development to his role as Business Development Manager. He has worked with a broad range of commercial and residential clients across ground, air, and water source heat pump technologies, combining technical expertise with practical market insight. David is deeply passionate about improving access to sustainable heating solutions for communities across Scotland.

With more than 20 years’ C-suite experience, and 7 years of strategy and innovation consulting, Ryan brings a wealth of experience to help leaders commercialise new products and services.

As Chief Operating Officer of a £50m turnover business, Ryan garnered the operational experience to generate successful new commercial products whilst achieving growth in the day-to-day business.

His consulting experience spans a wide range of industries including data, renewable energy, B2B software-as-a-service, construction, IT services, furniture manufacturing, digital and media. This includes developing new products and services, guiding start-up entrepreneurs to break-even, expanding internationally, and devising and implementing strategies for growth.

Most recently he has designed and is successfully delivering the New Product Development Programme for Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

Ryan is based in Edinburgh, Scotland, and works with businesses based in South Africa and the United Kingdom.
